Lawn Care & Landscaping in Middlesex Township
Middlesex is the township northeast of Carlisle where I-81, the Turnpike and the Carlisle Pike meet. Away from the interchanges it's quiet: Carlisle Springs and Donnellytown, the Schlusser neighborhoods it shares with North Middleton, farms along the Conodoguinet, and wooded ground up toward the Appalachian Trail on Blue Mountain.
We're based in Mechanicsburg, straight out the Carlisle Pike. We mow, fertilize and treat weeds, seed, mulch, trim shrubs, do seasonal cleanups, clear brush, build small patios and walls and plow driveways for homes and businesses. The owner is on site for every job.

Good to Know
Yard Work Rules in Middlesex Township.
Local rules that come up with lawn, leaf, snow and patio work, with the source for each. Dates change year to year, so check the source before you plan around one.
Leaf and yard waste pickup
The township's hauler collects leaves twice a year, on a Saturday in April and a Saturday in October, in open containers or paper bags, with no sticks or trash mixed in; yard waste goes the third Saturday of those same months. For everything in between, a fall cleanup hauls the leaves away.

Compost site
Middlesex and North Middleton residents can use the joint compost site on Windy Lane from March into mid-October (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday hours) and Saturdays into December, with photo ID. Contractors are prohibited and grass clippings, stumps and roots aren't accepted, so anything we cut leaves with us.

Sidewalks and snow
Township code gives owners 24 hours after snow stops to clear a path at least 30 inches wide, and removed snow goes on your own property or along the curb, not in the street (Chapter 147). A separate ordinance bars putting snow on a cleared or treated road, and there's no parking in cul-de-sacs from November through mid-April. Set up snow removal before the first storm.

Permits for patios, walls and driveways
The township's 2025 zoning ordinance requires a zoning permit for any structure, for earth disturbance and for a new or altered driveway or parking area, and doubles the fee for work done without one. Fences and walls other than retaining walls top out at six feet, and nothing goes in the street right-of-way. Up to 2,500 square feet of new hard surface needs no stormwater submission (§ 144-12). Ask the township before a patio, walkway or wall starts.

Trees along township roads
Nothing may be planted in a township right-of-way, vegetation stays 10 feet back from the traveled edge of a township road, and branches clear 15 feet over it (Chapter 147). A yearly shrub and hedge trimming keeps road frontage in line.

Open burning
Brush, logs and trees may be burned in the township, 100 feet from any structure and 50 feet from property lines, between sunrise and sunset; leaves and stumps may not be burned at all (Ordinance 13-2007). When burning isn't practical, brush removal takes the pile away.
