Lawn Care & Landscaping in Dickinson Township
Dickinson is the rural township southwest of Carlisle, from the valley farms around Mooredale and Barnitz up into South Mountain and Kings Gap. Properties are bigger, tree lines and fence rows grow back fast, and there's no municipal leaf or brush pickup, so keeping a place clear is mostly on the owner.
We're based in Mechanicsburg and serve the Carlisle area. Out here the work leans toward brush and land clearing, seeding reclaimed ground, mowing larger lawns and seasonal cleanups, along with mulching, shrub trimming, small patios and walls and driveway plowing. The owner is on site for every job.

Good to Know
Yard Work Rules in Dickinson Township.
Local rules that come up with lawn, leaf, snow and patio work, with the source for each. Dates change year to year, so check the source before you plan around one.
No municipal leaf or brush pickup
Dickinson has no township leaf collection, brush pickup or compost site; trash service is by cart or bag through the township's hauler. That makes a fall cleanup or a brush removal the practical way to get leaves and cuttings off the property.

Snow
Township code makes it unlawful to put snow on a cleared or treated road by shoveling, plowing or blowing, and the owner who hires the person doing it is liable too (§ 174-14). Residents clear their own driveways and mailbox areas. Set up snow removal before the first storm.

Permits for patios, walls and driveways
Building inspections run through the Western Cumberland Council of Governments, and the township issues zoning permits for any structure, including fences, and for filling, grading, paving and excavation (§ 205-158). Any driveway work where it meets a township road needs a road occupancy permit. Up to 1,000 square feet of new hard surface is exempt from a stormwater plan (§ 170-14). Ask the township before a patio, walkway or wall starts.

Grass height
On or within 250 feet of an improved property, grass and weeds over six inches are a nuisance under township code; gardens and active farmland are exempt (§ 130-4). A regular mowing schedule keeps the lawn well under it.

Trees and hydrants along the road
Owners are responsible for dead or dying trees and shrubs in the right-of-way that endanger the road, and for keeping vegetation off traffic, lights and hydrants (three feet of clear space around a hydrant).

Open burning
The township adopted a new outdoor burning ordinance in April 2026; check its current terms before burning brush. When burning isn't practical, brush removal takes the pile away.
