Good to Know
Yard Work Rules in Boiling Springs.
Local rules that come up with lawn, leaf, snow and patio work, with the source for each. Dates change year to year, so check the source before you plan around one.
Leaf collection
The township vacuums leaves from late October into mid-December: piles or rows within three feet of the road edge, never in the street where they block storm drains, and branches trimmed to 13.5 feet over the roadside for the truck. A fall cleanup hauls them away instead.

Brush pickup and the compost site
Brush pickup happens twice a year by calling the township office, in tied bundles up to four feet and 40 pounds. The township compost site on Lindsey Road is open to residents with a vehicle sticker, with leaf mulch and tanbark to take home at no charge. Bigger piles are a brush removal job.

Snow
Township plowing starts at three inches, and the township says shoveling or blowing snow onto a plowed street is illegal. Set up snow removal for the driveway before the first storm.

Patios, walls and the historic district
Patios, fences, sheds and decks need a township zoning permit, retaining walls in a front yard top out at four feet, and uncovered patios stay ten feet off side and rear lines. Properties in the Boiling Springs Historic District may have extra review. Ask the township before a patio or wall project starts.

Open burning
Open burning other than cooking is prohibited, and recreational fires stay 25 feet from a structure with no leaves or yard debris in them, so leaves and brush get collected or hauled.
