Good to Know
Yard Work Rules in Camp Hill.
Local rules that come up with lawn, leaf, snow and patio work, with the source for each. Dates change year to year, so check the source before you plan around one.
Leaf collection
Borough crews collect leaves from mid-October into early December, weather permitting, on the day after your trash day. Windrow the leaves along the curb, keep branches, grass clippings and rocks out of the piles, and move cars off the street on collection day. A fall cleanup hauls them away instead.

Yard waste
Yard waste goes to the curb once a month, on the third Saturday, April through November.
Sidewalks after a snow
Camp Hill gives owners eight hours after snow stops to clear the sidewalk to at least three feet wide, not counting 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. (§ 176-6). Set up snow removal for the driveway before the first storm.

Front-yard walls and new patios
Garden walls and fences in a front yard top out at 48 inches (36 on a corner lot) and sit at least a foot back from the sidewalk; engineered retaining walls that hold back a slope are exempt (§ 200-44). The stormwater ordinance counts new hard surface like patios and walkways over time and exempts only small additions from its full requirements (§ 174-13), so ask the borough before a larger patio or walkway.

Street trees
Planting, trimming or removing a tree along the street takes a Shade Tree Commission permit (§ 187-4). The borough also asks that trees along the curb be kept at least 14 feet above the street so the leaf equipment can get by.

Grass height
Borough property rules cap grass and weeds at six inches (§ 154-15). A weekly or biweekly mowing schedule is the easy way to stay under it.
