New Cumberland, Cumberland County
Lawn Care & Landscaping in New Cumberland
New Cumberland sits where the Yellow Breeches meets the Susquehanna, with a downtown around the historic West Shore Theater and older neighborhoods of established yards, shade trees and front-porch beds. The borough runs its own leaf vacuum and has a short sidewalk deadline after a snow, so fall and winter here reward a plan.
We're based in Mechanicsburg, about fifteen minutes away. We mow, fertilize and treat weeds, seed, mulch, trim shrubs, do leaf and seasonal cleanups, build small patios and walls and plow driveways for homes and businesses. The owner is on site for every job.

Good to Know
Yard Work Rules in New Cumberland.
Local rules that come up with lawn, leaf, snow and patio work, with the source for each. Dates change year to year, so check the source before you plan around one.
Leaf collection
The borough vacuums leaves from the third week of October through the first full week of December, by zone. Rake them into the street at the curb line, with no branches, sticks, bricks or stones mixed in; there are no alley pickups. A fall cleanup hauls them away instead.

Yard waste and street sweeping
The borough's hauler collects yard waste on the third Saturday in April and October, and doesn't take grass clippings, stumps or dirt. Street sweeping runs every other week from September, and the borough asks that clippings, sticks and debris stay out of the roadway.

Sidewalks after a snow: 10 hours
Borough code gives owners 10 hours after snow stops to clear the sidewalk (evening snow by 10 a.m. the next morning), a three-foot clearance around any hydrant, and no snow thrown onto any street; fines climb with each offense (Chapter 328). Set up snow removal before the first storm.

Patios need a zoning permit
The borough's zoning permit application has a box for installing a patio and asks for the lot's impervious coverage; the zoning fee is separate from any building permit, which goes through the borough's third-party code official. Under 1,000 square feet of new hard surface is exempt from the stormwater rules (§ 321-13). Ask the borough before a patio, walkway or wall starts.

Grass height
Grass, weeds or brush over six inches is a violation under borough code, with five days to fix it after notice (§ 140-5). A weekly or biweekly mowing schedule keeps you well under it.

Trees and burning
Branches have to clear 12 feet over the street and 8 feet over the sidewalk (Chapter 360), and open burning is banned in the borough, so leaves and brush get collected or hauled.
