Lawn Care & Landscaping in Lower Allen Township
Lower Allen wraps around Camp Hill's south side, from Allendale and the Gettysburg Road corridor down to Lisburn on the Yellow Breeches. It's established suburban ground: lawns with shade trees, foundation beds that need a yearly reset, and sidewalks the township expects cleared.
We're based in Mechanicsburg, a short drive west. We mow, fertilize and treat weeds, seed, mulch, trim shrubs, do leaf and seasonal cleanups, build small patios and walls and plow driveways for homes and businesses. The owner is on site for every job.

Good to Know
Yard Work Rules in Lower Allen Township.
Local rules that come up with lawn, leaf, snow and patio work, with the source for each. Dates change year to year, so check the source before you plan around one.
Leaf collection
The township vacuums leaves from mid-October to mid-December, starting on the east side in Allendale and working south and west. Rake them to the street side of the curb or within five feet of the road edge in long rows, leaves only, and don't bag them; bagged leaves aren't collected. A fall cleanup hauls them away instead.

Yard waste every week
Yard waste goes out weekly in the yellow bins on trash day from the first week of March to the last week of October, with tree trimmings up to six inches across. Grass clippings aren't taken. Residents can also drop off at the Public Works facility on St. Johns Road and pick up compost and wood chips at no charge.

Sidewalks after a snow
Township code gives owners 24 hours after snow stops to clear a path at least 36 inches wide and a 36-inch radius around any hydrant, and no snow may be shoveled, plowed or blown onto a street (Chapter 187). Parking is banned on snow emergency routes during an emergency. Set up snow removal before the first storm.

Patios and retaining walls
A new or expanded patio, slab or driveway needs a zoning permit with an impervious coverage worksheet and plot plan. Retaining walls need a building permit, with engineered plans at four feet or higher, and any hardscape patio or garden wall over four feet needs at least a zoning permit. Under 1,000 square feet of cumulative new hard surface is exempt from the stormwater controls (§ 184-13). Ask the township before a patio or wall project starts.

Grass height
The township's property code caps weeds and plant growth at 10 inches within 200 feet of an occupiable building (Chapter 162). A weekly or biweekly mowing schedule keeps you well under it.

Trees over the street
Owners keep branches at least 14 feet over a street and 8 feet over a sidewalk (Chapter 202). Leaf waste can't be burned or dumped in the township, so it has to be collected or hauled.
